OH MY GIRL’s “Nonstop” ranked No.1 for one week in May of 2020, and BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” was on top of the chart for four weeks in July of the same year. The song is the Brave Girls’ first entry on Billboard, and they are now the third Korean girl group to top the K-Pop 100 chart since OH MY GIRL and BLACKPINK. To top it all, “Rollin’” even went on to top the Billboard K-Pop 100 chart over Singer IU who has been dominating the chart for the past seven weeks. The group, since their debut in 2011, had never achieved this much success on any chart. It also reached the top on music charts Melon, Genie Music, Bugs, and various music shows. The song held the position at the top of the streaming chart for two weeks, eventually reaching No.1 on the digital chart. The track, which was released back in 2017, is holding up the No.1 spot on Gaon’s weekly digital and streaming charts. They match the energy of the army audience if that makes sense? That’s why the army loves them so much.Kpop’s new rising star girl group, Brave Girls, continue to reach the top of various music charts with their SK military-fav single “Rollin”’. But the girls still give their 100000%, they don’t feel ashamed of just getting tiny gigs, they don’t half-ass their performances. Not proper TV station like KBS, SBS, MBC, Mnet. The majority of clips in it are from military own TV channel (look at top right).
Most of them are over 30 Korean age and had prepared their own path (one had barista certification, one was into teaching traditional dances, one was in uni, etc) to move on with their life. The girls were ready to disband, have packed their bags from their dorm. Some of these bases are quite remote that needs up to 12 hours of return journey from Seoul, even needed to ride a boat because of how remote the base was (called Baengnyeong). One performance leads to another and they have done more than 100 performances in total. They were happy to perform on the bases and felt very loved because of the cheer the army gave them. But the girls craved to perform on stage so they took the job, still gave their 100% on stage. They only schedule they got was to perform at military bases which is not highly paid (especially considering the transport, hair, makeup, styling, agency fee, the girls barely get nothing). Brave Girls was nugu and had no schedule AT ALL.
